My dear son,

I felt surprised to read the contents of your letter.  I wonder how you spend Rs. 2000/- per month.  My monthly income is not more than Rs. 30,000/- and I am supposed to bear all the expenses of the family.  I have already been undergoing considerable strain of economic liability.

Anyhow, I do not want to see you in a state of monetary scarcity.  Therefore, I am increasing your monthly allowances to Rs. 2000/-.  But be careful that you do not spend this sum of money lavishly.  Spend only as much as is necessary for your maintenance and study.   I am sure you must follow my directions in this behalf.

All else is O.K. I am physically quite well.  You should take care of yourself.  Work hard and get a merit position in the college at least.

With love.

Yours affectionately,
